The roll-up data challenge

Can we see every plant at site grain? Not yet — and here's the honest map

Plants on SAP S/4 post transactions at site level; two overseas entities and the newest units still record at entity/region level. The view labels each so actuals are never confused with estimates.

Plants on SAP S/4 (or fully-mapped entity ERPs) — every transaction booked at plant/line grain. Trust as-is.

Entity-allocated2 sites

Overseas entities mid-migration (Russia/CIS, Nigeria) — some postings still land at entity level; allocation disaggregates them to plant using installed lines, headcount and dispatch counts.

Region-only (estimate)2 sites
₹446 Cr
3% of mapped revenue

Under-construction / desk units (Dharwad, the Singapore export desk) — recorded only at region level. The site figure is a modeled estimate until cutover.

How the cutover closes the gap

1 · Resolve the site. Match legacy plant IDs, entity names and addresses (Jammu films + converting = Plant 4021 = Flex India North) into one golden site record — you can't roll up what you can't match.

2 · Tag the grain. Every transaction carries its recording level (site / entity / region) and a confidence score, so the view shows actuals vs estimates instead of pretending they're the same.

3 · Disaggregate. For entity-level postings, a driver model splits the total to plants by installed lines, headcount, dispatch counts and payroll — weights learned from on-SAP plants where both grains exist during cutover.

4 · Reconcile & learn. Allocated plant sums must tie back to the entity total; anomalies and duplicate CPG ship-to records get flagged. As each entity migrates to SAP S/4, estimates flip to actuals — coverage is now 91% and rising.
